Okul ve ekol sözcükleri birlikte ele alınmaz çoğu zaman. Hâlbuki okul, ekol sözcüğünden gelmektedir. Okumak insan için en kutsal görevlerden biridir. Okul da bunun çatısı, derlenip toparlandığı yerdir. Cemiyetin değişim, dönüşüm ve ilerleme süreçlerinde, tarihî ayak izlerinde işte bu bilim merkezlerinin önemi yadsınamaz. Tarihe dönüp baktığımızda yenilik hamlelerinin bu ekolleri veya okulları değiştirmekle başladığını görürüz. Bu değişim artık günümüz dünyasında zaten reddedilemeyecek hâle gelmiştir

Okulun çatısı, dört duvarı ve içindeki insani değerin bir şekilde çözülmüş olması gayet doğaldır. İnsan birçok şeyin en iyisini arar, onu bulmaya gayret eder. Nitelikli insan her devirde aranan bir değer olmuştur. Okulun en önemli yapı taşı insan iken, insanın önüne ışık tutan, yolunu aydınlatan bilim meşalesini söndürmeyecek güç ise kitaplardır.

Basılı eserlerin önemi su götürmez bir gerçektir. İnsanlık tarihi de zaten bunun şahididir. Yazının bulunması o yüzden bir milat kabul edilir. Kitapların içindeki emek, göz nuru ve birikim insanlığın gelişiminin en nadide mimarlarındandır.
